De Soto High School is proud to recognize senior Payton Stearns, who was selected as our school's DAR Good Citizen nominee. Payton was chosen in recognition of the qualities she demonstrates through her dependability, service, patriotism, and leadership.

Payton was honored yesterday at the DAR Good Citizens Tea, where students selected by their schools were recognized for these outstanding qualities.

We are proud of Payton and the positive example she sets for others at DHS! Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Payton is the daughter of Nick and Keeley Stearns.

The Dragons head to Bonne Terre this evening for the first round of districts. Kick off is at 7:00 PM and we need Dragon Nation to show up and show out!

This last weekend the Robotic Dragons traveled to Tremont Illinois and competed in the Roboteer Rumble. The Robotic Dragons battled with 34 other teams through the qualification rounds and finished with a record of 4 and 1. This placed the Dragons into the 4th seed Alliance Captain position. The Robotic Dragons joined forces with the Stateline Robotics team from Rockton Il, team Winnovation from Winnebago Il, and team Crowbotics from DeKalb Il, to compete in the final tournament. The alliance lost their first two matches and was eliminated from the competition.

This was the final tournament for the Robotic Dragons for the 2026 season. They finished this year with a record of 14-12-1 across three competitions. The Robotic Dragons’ next season starts on Jan 9th with a new game and a new robot to design.

The Dragons take the field for the last home game of the season tonight against the Herculaneum Blackcats. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM! Tonight is also senior night for the band and color guard. Come early to support the senior members of the Dragon Pride Marching Band!

It’s Senior Night for our volleyball seniors! Join us as we recognize the hard work, Let’s pack the stands and show our seniors some love! Freshman start at 4:30, JV 5:30, with Varsity at 7:00.

Final from Potosi Dragons - 31 Trojans - 13 The Dragons move to 4-4 on the season and will face the Herculaneum Blackcats next week at J.C Culwell Stadium!

Tomorrow morning our Cross Country team will compete in the JCAA conference XC meet. Good luck, Dragons!

Our American History students took a field trip to see history come alive this morning! They were able to visit the World War 2 event at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The event takes place through Sunday.

The softball team begins district play this afternoon! The will be taking on Cape Notre Dame at North County High School. First pitch is at 5:00 PM! ONWARD DRAGONS!

The volleyball team will face Jefferson R-7 tonight at home! The JV game begins at 5:30 with the varsity contest immediately following. Good luck, ladies!

De Soto High School's National Honor Society Chapter Wins National Award

For its exemplary record of leadership, service and efforts to improve the school and community, the National Honor Society awarded De Soto High School the Chapter of Distinction award. DHS NHS is supported by its parent organization, the National Principals Association (NPA), which also oversees the National Association of Student Councils. DHS NHS works throughout the year to provide support throughout our community and school. During the 2025-2026 school year, DHS NHS completed 1092 service hours as an organization, including several service projects such as NHS Buddies, Operation Christmas Child, Adopt a Family, canned food drives, and Veterans baskets. This year, our organization has already completed over 200 service hours and has several service projects underway.

"The NHS Chapter of Distinction Award celebrates chapters that truly embody what the National Honor Society stands for—students who don't just excel academically but actively strengthen their communities," said NPA CEO Ronn Nozoe. "The De Soto High School chapter demonstrates how powerful it can be when young leaders channel their talents toward meaningful service and positive change."

The NHS Chapters of Distinction is a national recognition program created by NHS to honor chapters that demonstrate strong leadership, sound operations and a deep commitment to the pillars of the Honor Society. This distinction recognizes chapters that meet all Essential Standards and excel in key areas such as student governance and leadership development.
